Traveling from Stockholm to Helsinki!

Me and my beloved mother are traveling to Helsinki to see the Tom of Finland exhibition and visit relatives!
When I was a child we used to travel to Finland every summer, and many Christmas holidays have been celebrated with my Finnish cousins and aunties and uncles.
Viking Line, which is one of the two shipping companies that travel to Finland, makes it´s way through the Stockholm archipelago before it reaches the sea.
Sweden and Finland are neighbors so it´s quite easy to travel across the border. All you really need is a ticket and an EU-approved identity card (your passport works as well) and you are good to go!
Helsinki has some cute houses
Different ways to travel from Stockholm to Helsinki
The best way to travel probably depends on what kind of traveler you are. Do you think of traveling as a part of the journey (like my mother) or do you want to reach the destination asap (like me)?
Here are your different options:
– Flying (1 hour)
– Boat (17 hours)
– Driving (22-24 hours)
– Train (?)
We usually travel by boat. This way we can eat and sleep and shop on the boat and I don´t become cranky because too much is happening at the same time. And when we arrive in Helsinki the next morning, we are well rested and ready to seize the day!
We have arrived on the boat now!
The boat
When we arrived to the boat we went to our cabin to leave our things. And then we headed straight to the deck to get some air and see the boat take of from the harbor!
Stockholms archipelago is beautiful – especially when its not raining XD
We ate a pizza and bought some candy.
This champagne bar had nice pizzas!
And then it was time for bed! (One has to be well rested for Tom of Finland)
