A girl´s gotta eat! So in this blog post we are going to look at some cheap places to eat food in in Stockholm. The inflation is making everything expensive and sometimes you just want to have nice food that doesn´t cost a fortune!

I´ve skipped the food trucks in this list because I prefer places where you actually can sit down with your friends and talk and enjoy the food.

Marrakesh (lunch only)

Marrakesh restaurant has 10 locations around Stockholm and they serve really good Mediterranean food for only 1.7 euro per 100 g! The buffé has like 10 mains, 10 salads and 10 sides and everything I´ve tried so far has been delicious!

The best way to find the restaurant closest to you is to check the map on their website.

Bröd och Salt

I love Bröd och Salt!
Bröd och Salt is like a café type of place where you can make your own salad and pay by the weight! The salad bar is very fresh and has all kind of yummy things and the salad costs 2.20 euro per 100 g at the time I´m writing this article (dec 2024).

They are located all around Stockholm.

La Neta

If you love fatty, tasty, mexican food – La Neta is the place for you! Here you can chose between different kind of tacos and quesadillas and during lunch there is usually also rice to go with your food.
Water from the tap is free and you can also buy alcoholic beverages here. Usually you have to eat more than one taco though to get full and the prices ranges between 3-7 euro depending on what you are having.

La Netas restaurants are located in Södermalm and in City.

This lonely taco cost me 10 euro but then again the coca-cola was atleast 2.6 euro, so 7.4 for the taco

Jerusalem kebab

Jerusalem kebab has been around since for ever! This is the place where we used to eat when we were teens and didn´t have any money. At that time there was a battle going on between Jerusalem kebab and an other kebab place right across the street and for a long time the kebab used to cost 1.3 euro!

This was a long time ago though, and since then the prices have gone up. A kebab with bread now costs around 6 euro. So it´s still very cheap considering that we are in Stockholm.

Jerusalem kebab is located at Götgatan 59 at Södermalm. The closest subwaystation is Medborgarplatsen.

Café Källarbyn

Café källarbyn is a cosy café located in Gamla Stan (the old town). All the furniture are second hand and they have some board games you can borrow for free. They usually serve soup, pancakes (not the American type) and different kinds of light plant-based dishes. Most dishes are around 7-13 euro. They also host music events in the evenings.

Cafe Källarbyn is located at Stora Nygatan 13 and the closest subway station is Gamla Stan

IKEA in Gallerian

IKEA is not only known for their furniture, but also for serving cheap meatballs! They have a few other dishes too and all of the dishes are quite affordable. If you don´t want to leave the city center, there is an IKEA located at the shopping mall Gallerian near T-centralen in Stockholm City.
The different dishes costs somewhere around 3.5 – 9 euro.

8.17 euro for a 3 course meal – maybe not the most exciting culinary experience, but it´s cheap!

A couple of extra tips

Extra tip if you feel a bit rich – Santa Salsa
If you find your self in Kungsholmen and are craving modern South American food then Santa Salsa is your destination! The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and serves Venezuelan dishes like arepas and patacones and they also serve alcohol. The prices range from 8.5-13 euro but you probably should be prepared to order more than one dish.
Santa Salsa is located at Hantverkargatan 76 and the closest subway is Fridhemsplan

Extra tip if you feel a bit poor – Biltema
And if you are feeling really really poor and just happen to be around a Biltema store – you can always pop in there and buy a hot dog for 5 crowns! (40 cent)

Hope you found something good to eat that fits your budget! And if you know some amazing cheap restaurant somewhere in the world – please let me know! 🙂
