Traveling from Linate airport to Milan and Hotel Vittoria

Hej friends, I´m in Milan – the fashion capital of the world!
According to some, that is. In fact Milan has been battling Paris for the title for many years. Both cities have their annual fashion weeks, Milan fashion week and Paris fashion week, and both places are frequently visited by fashion lovers from all over the world.

I have never been to neither Milan or Paris so I´m very excited about finally get to see the city that has given us fashion houses like Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Missoni, Moschino, Prada, Versace and Bottega Veneta!

Subway from Linate airport to Milan

Milan has three airports and Linate airport is probably the one closest to the city. This time I have thought things through before booking the flights so I arrive in Milan at a descent time! This gives me the courage to take the metro to my hotel (I usually avoid this if I travel alone and arrive at night). My hotel, hotel Vittoria, is located around Guastalla and Porta Monforte areas and the closest subway station for me is Tricolore.

Milan has 5 subway lines. And also cute old trams and busses!

It is very easy to find the subway. The airport has very good signage and has made it is easy to follow the signs to the blue subway line. The blue subway line M4 towards San Cristoforo will take you to the city center.

Buying subway tickets

At the station you´ll find ticket machines where you can buy your ticket or travel card. You can chose to buy a travel card for one day (24h) or one for three days (72h). You can also buy a “10-tickets” card or a single trip. I go for a single trip and it costs me 2.20 euro (the year is 2025).

You can actually top up these tickets, but I didn´t understand it until now when I´m writing the blog haha

The machines usually accept both cash and card. And they are very much better at accepting notes than fex the ticket machines in Barcelona which tend to spit out your money a couple of times before giving you a ticket!

The ride from Lineate Airport to Tricolore, which is located quite near the city center takes only around 10 minutes.

Remember to keep your ticket!

When you reach your destination you will need to blip your subway ticket again – otherwise you will not be let out of the station! So keep your ticket safe and don´t throw it away before you exited the metro system 😀
