Thrifting in Stockholm -pt 1

I love second hand stores, thrift shops and vintage boutiques! The variety of clothes and things, the mismatch of colors and patterns and all the history that silently hangs there on the hangers. Where has this dress been? Or these pumps?

I also love the possibility of transformation! Who would I be if I wore this 80s blazer with big shoulderpads? Or that brown mens overall? Would this silk tie go with my green dress? And what would that communicate about me as a person?

Second hand stores in Stockholm

Thrifting in Stockholm is as popular as it’s ever been. Back in the days thrifting was generally frowned upon and no one was interested, so you could find really cool things almost for free. Back then there were very few stores that had a curated selection so it would take time to find your gems.

Today everyone is highly aware of how our throwaway culture damages the environment and gen z and gen alpha are pushing for change! More and more second hand stores are popping up in Stockholm and the increase in demand also translates to more expensive pricetags.

These cups were kind of cool!

Here is a very non-conclusive list of second hand stores in Stockholm. I have divided them into three different price categories. In this post we are going to look at “regular” thriftshops.

Regular thriftshops

There are many regular second hand stores all around town and many of them are chains. These are usually the cheapest vintage stores and the selection is not always very curated. If you type in any of these into Google maps, it will give you an overview of where you can find the ones closest to you.
