Bacha coffee in Paris – review

There is a small queue outside of Bacha coffee when we arrive. We’ve had a long lovely stroll through Jardin des Tuileries where we took at least 10000 pictures and now we are hungry.

Champs Elysees is busy. Cars are driving, tourists strolling and people are walking briskly to wherever their destination might be.

A waitress comes out to the queue and asks how many we are. She then apologizes and informs us that since we don´thave a booking we probably have to wait for like 40 minutes before we get in. We agree on waiting and luck is on our side today, 20 minutes later we are escorted into a lovely room with dark blue walls, checkered floor and paintings in ornamented golden frames.

Bacha coffee as a venue

The restaurant is located on the second floor and the interior is amazing. Saturated heavy colors, dark wood and other arabic influences, high ceilings, dramatic paintings. I´m just waiting to see Agatha Christies Poirot seated at the table next to us.

Bacha coffee – coffee experience

It would be a sin to not drink coffee in this beautiful place dedicated to the beverage. And there is no lack of options here. The menu presents over 200 different roasts and blends!

After some pondering Buba decides to go for a coffee named “Magic Istanbul” which is described as

“A tantalising journey of the senses, this exclusive creation has notes of freshly cut honeycomb, which give a delicious sweetness to pure Arabica coffee beans. Balanced by notes of green almond, this cup will wisk you away”.

And I, who usually only drink tea, choose a Tolteca Chocolate coffee, hoping it will be less bitter than regular coffee. It is described like this

“Composed of the finest Arabica beans, this blend is full and warm, melting with tonalities of ardent cocoa beans that leave a sweet memory on the palate. The perfect afternoon delight.”

And when it arrives it DOES have a noticeble taste of chocolate, but we can´t really detect the almond in Bubas coffee although we try. Our water is served in silver beakers, and the coffee pots have long elegant necks, almost like two swans courting.

Bacha coffee food experience

There are different options on the menu. From breakfast to snacks to full meals. They even have a afternoon tea-like Afternoon Coffee! With both savory and sweet treats. We are hungry so I order the Moroccan kefte meatballs (how swedish of me haha) and Buba the saffron risotto.
While we wait for the food we look in the coffee book and I learn that Ethiopia and Uganda also are coffee producers!

The food turns out to be really delicious! Even if the intererior design and the atmosphere of the place wouldn´t be anything special I´d still come here for food! This is not the case for many cute places where they go all in to create the environment but forget to give equal importance to the food.

Content and happy we pay the bill and go downstairs to buy some gifts for my parents.
